Pink Eye........UGH!!!
Well, well, well..........I volunteered for babysitting duty tomorrow night, and then I get an email from Jules with this pic in it. Madison has pink eye. Jules says she's been on the medicine for 48 hours, so by tomorrow, should it be OK to keep her????
I think it depends on if it is bacterial or viral.
My ds got pink eye a lot when he was in preschool. I was always told that he was no longer contagious after using the eye drops for 24 hours. I think you should be fine by tomorrow night. Karen, if she hasn't already, make sure Jules changes her pillow case and washes it in hot water.
My daughter gets pink eye alot from having her hands nears her eyes alot. Doctor gave us eye drops and it has never gotten to any of the other kids that she's around.
I SO want to see them - it's been over a month. When I saw this pic of her little eyes, I just cringed. It's not that I have a problem giving her meds or taking care of her when she's sick, it's that with my health the way it's been lately, *I* don't need to catch anything. I'm gonna go for it - I'll wash hands a lot! LOL
Poor kiddo!! I imagine she'll be doing better, Karen. Good luck. I hope it's a nice visit and she's feeling better!
I am sure not all kinds are the same, but dd had pink eye once and she was fine. Never felt bad or had a fever or anything. Just red eyes that were a little matted in the morning! I bet she is fine tomorrow!! Have fun, but just to be sure, wash your hands alot and have her do the same!!
I've always heard that 24 hours on the meds is enough to wipe out the contagious factor of pinkeye and I have had it SSOOOO many times. I would wash my hands a lot and have lots of fun! I think you'll be fine.
My ds has had pink eye this week, it started Tuesday in his left eye and Wednesday it showed up in his right eye, by Thursday, they were clear.. I think you will be okay keeping her, just keep your hands washed good and hers.. Have fun!!
Ohhhh.....ouch. It looks so sore. I've also always been told that after 24 hours on meds it is no longer contagious.
Do you guys remember back in July when I had pink eye? Guess what!! I still have it. Mine is alot better, but it is being caused by some sort of irritant, and it is not bacterial. I just went to the Dr. again yesterday for it. I still wake up with one swollen eye. I am on a new drop so I hope it works. They did tell me that after you are on the drops (if it is bacterial) that you are not contagious after 24 hours. I did a great job of washing my hands and not cross contaminating to my other eye, or to anyone in my house or at work. Be careful to wash your hands alot and DO NOT touch your eyes. Some people have a habit of rubbing/touching their eyes and don't even realize it.
Well, my pink eyed baby girl is here. She looks MUCH better now - nothing like that pic above. Only her left eye is still a little pink. We've been washing hands like crazy tonight. She was SO GOOD when I put her eyedrops in! I was surprised. Didn't fight me at all, she wrapped her arms around her legs and held them - I guess that was a distraction Jules thought of! I bought her some jammies to leave here for when she sleeps over. And I bought her a dress today too. My mom was disappointed in not being able to see her, but I'm taking no chances there. I also splurged on art paper, finger paints, washable markers, etc. I had gotten her an art desk from a co-worker's garage sale, and we've got it set up with all her stuff. In the morning we are going to get messy and finger paint!
Awww, how cute!! Glad things worked out for you. Have fun finger painting!!
What a great time for both of you! I'm glad you are getting to spend this time together. Have fun.
I'm glad she's feeling better, Karen! Have fun!
