Table Food?
When did you start giving your kids table food? Rylee just turned 9 months on MOnday. She almost has 6 teeth now. 2 on the bottom and 4 on the top. She can eat her little finger cookies that melt in the mouth and her biter biscuits really well. When can I start giving her table food or the jared baby greenbeans and carrots that are cut up for them?
Olivia gets the baby jar of cut up veggies & fruit now & she only has 2 teeth. I also give her fries & mashed potatoes. Just make sure you cut it up really small & it should be fine now. When Joe was getting ready to transition into table food I got him the Gerber Graduates, it was soft & got him used to self feeding.
I started my boys on table foods at about 9 months, making sure they could gnaw it well enough to not choke - also soft foods like mashed potatoes, steamed carrots, etc. Just watch out for food allergies and spicy foods, as well as choking hazards such as peanut butter, whole grapes, etc.
Christopher gets mashed potatoes, fries, any kind of veggie I am eating (either cut up really small or mashed well). He also eats animal crackers, graham crackers, ritz crackers and sometimes he will eat the jar of cut up veggies or fruits. The fruits are a little slippery and he has a hard time holding on to them sometimes. He also loves to eat dill pickle spears! And he just got his first tooth today! Mostly I just give him a little bit of something and see how he does. Just start trying things a little at a time!
Thank you all. I bought some of the cut up baby fruits and veggies today. I will see how she does.
I fed Sarah spaghetti and meatballs cut up into very small pieces when she was 8 months old! She did great and she LOVED it! I was kind of reaching the end of feeding her jar baby food at that point. I just gave her soft stuff and cut it up small. She never choked.
I gave Rylee the baby jar of cooked carrots and she gagged!!! She hated them, which is weird because she LOVES baby food carrots. Do you think that it could be the texture that she doesn't like?
I think so... Christopher eats lots of finger foods, but he gagged on the cut up peaches. I also can't get him to eat size 3 baby foods because he hates the texture. I read somewhere that you should just put a few pieces of the cut up fruit/veggie on their high chair while you are feeding them baby food. This way they can play with it, get used to it, and maybe even try it on their own.
I started feeding my dd table food around 8 or 9 months. She LOVES carrots, but I get the little cans of them for like .33, they're cheaper and really soft. She also got green beans cut in half and then split, she's always been really good at chewing her food, she even tried to chew applesauce the first time I gave it to her!
