Potty help
We introduced the potty chair to Joseph when he was just over a year old, we weren't expecting anything, just wanted him to get used to it. He is now 29 months old & for the last 3 days has only made 1 poop mess in his pants & 4 on the potty chair. He won't go pee on it. He says he needs to go, then screams he doesn't want to. What am I doing wrong? I don't force him, I ask him before every diaper change, before baths, & bed. Is it just still to early? Should I keep doing what I am & let him lead me????
I know boys and girl are different, but whatever works, works, right? My dd always went to the bathroom with me ever since she was able to crawl in there. So she potty trained herself basically, when I would go she would go, she wanted to be just like mommie. She was potty trained by the time she was 26 months old, and has not had an accident but 1 time since then and she is almost 3. Like you, I never pushed it on her. I don't think it is too early, I think you and Joseph are doing a good job. Have you tried a sticker system, I know alot of parents that have done that. Then when he gets so many stickers he gets a special new toy or an ice cream. Just an idea. But he is doing great!
All I can say is my ds is the same exact age and won't poop on the potty- but pees up a storm. Maybe we can merge them- I call the potty trained one!
Well usually getting them to poop on the potty is the hard part, so hey you already have the worst part done. This sounds strange but to get my boys to pee on the potty they sit backwards on the potty and I took a large cup of warm water and slowly dumped it on them. I started this because everytime they got in the water from the bath it made them pee, it works. It helped them to get the sensation.
Both of my ds's got "poop trained" first and then learned to pee in the toilet. We used to go to the toilet and say "Let's make bubbles". You know when a guy goes pee it makes bubbles in the water. We would go "make bubbles" on a regular basis and they thought it was fun. They were both around 30 months or maybe a little older.
