At home remedies for burn?
My poor baby burned her fingers on the barbeque yesterday. I took the grill off to clean it after it had already been heated up by the flames and DD was walking by and tripped and to catch her balance she put her hands out and her fingers went right on the grill. She jumped back in total shock and started screaming. I felt so bad for her. Everytime she walks outside now she says "Owwww.... hot!" But is there anything I need to do or watch out for? She does have small blisters on 4 fingers where it actually burned and she doesnt act likes its painful anymore. I read on WebMD that if there are any blisters at all they should see the ped. since their skin is weaker than ours. Should I do that or just watch carefully? TIA
Melissa, I would let her Ped. check them out. When Jen was not even a year old, she was sitting in my lap and reached for something on the table, and put her fingers in a dish of something that had just come out of the oven. She had blisters on four fingers also. I took her in and they had to debride the little burns and watch closely for infection. I wouldn't take any chances if I were you, even though she's acting like it doesn't hurt anymore. Jen did the same thing. Your little one is too precious to take chances with.
((((HUGS)))) Oh, poor baby. I would probably call her ped. Even if it's just so they can say that she is fine. Just to be sure. I am sure that she is ok, but if it were Rylee I would call.
My oldest DD grabbed a curling iron and burned her hand pretty bad when she was about 18 months old. We took her to the ER and they said that too many parents think it's not too bad and they don't need to come in. I'd take her in, just to be on the safe side. Poor baby...and poor mommy!
We went out for pizza. Sarah was 8 months old. She was in a booster seat that attaches to the table (how dumb is that in a pizza restaurant?) Anyway, the dumb waitress puts the pizza down right in front of her and she reached for it. She had blisters, too. I don't think I took her to the doctor. Maybe I called and they weren't all the concerned. Anyway, she healed up fine and is turning 15 next week. If she had been in a separate high-chair, I could have pushed her away from the table so she couldn't reach. Since here chair was right their by the table, I think the waitress should have have placed the pizza a little farther away from a grabby baby!
Thanks, i'll call the nurse advice line and see if they want her to come in.
You should get a prescription for Silverdene it helps blisters. Last time my daughter got a bad sunburn that blistered I called the DR. and they called in a prescription for me. Blisters are 2nd degree burns and should be seen by a DR or treated (burn cream) promptly (The DR told me if left untreated it can cause an infection!)
Silvadine(sp) is great stuff. I hope everything is okay & will watch for an update. I have been lucky Joseph hasn't burnt himself yet.
Silvadine is definitely great stuff, and not just for burns. Oldest DS fell off the back of a moving car in the 80's (don't ask!!) and lost most of the skin on his back. Silvadine kept it from scarring and helped it heal nicely. How are her little fingers today?
They prescribed Silvadine for my dd too. She had 2nd and 1st degree burns and she doesn't have any scars now. The doc said we were lucky but I think the burn cream was a huge help. How is she feeling?
Since there is no black around the blisters the doc isnt too concerned since there are no obvious signs of tissue damage. He doesnt want to pop them or have me pop them, he just wants nature to take its course and of course for me to keep a close eye out for signs of infections and such. Thanks for all the advice, you girls are always great!
Glad to hear your little girl is okay, sorry I didn't have any advice to give you I have not been in that situation. Good call taking her to the doctor though, you can never be TOO careful.
I am glad everthing is okay. Did he mention how to keep a toddler from messing with the blisters? That just seems like it is not going to be much fun.
She doesnt even look at them so I didnt bother asking. Thank goodness shes a great kid, LOL!
