Crib Chewing
My DD is now chewing on her crib. My problem is that the bar is circle. A standard chew bar will not fit. I called Babies R Us, and they don't have anything. I called Home Depot and Lowes, and they don't have anything either. Does any one have any suggestions on what I can use? Her bed is a convertible, so she will have it for a very long time. I want it to look nice.
What about a bath towel, maybe cut in half lengthwise, then folded several times lengthwise, and attached with ribbon or something between the bars? Her crib is white, right? Use white towels so it doesn't look too bad. This would protect her mouth as well as the crib and would be totally nontoxic. Good luck!
They make crib guards out of cloth. It's a long strip of terry with velcro. I have them for my son. I got them at USA Baby, but I'm sure most places have them. Ame
I looked at those and they don't fit her crib either. Hers is too big for it to fit around it.
Since they are velcro, couldn't you just get two sets and double them up? Use one along the top of the rail, use one along the bottom and connect them with the velcro. Ame
I might be able to do that. Thanks.
My son is also chewing on his crib. All four sides around the top and every vertical slat too. I tried a Gummi crib rail cover and it doesn't stick to well. I've tried making sure he has Tylenol or Ibuprofen in his system before putting him down. I tried putting his bumper back in. I even tried Bitter Apple you can put on animals surgical sights and Tabasco sauce and he seemed to LIKE both of those. He has chewed on his crib at home and the one at the lake house. His crib at home converts to a toddler bed too. I haven't found anything that works and haven't been able to come up with any other ideas. There are splinters of wood all over his sheet every time I get him up. I know there must be some in his mouth too. It really worries me. Anyone have any other ideas??
I just left it alone. The towel wouldn't stay. She doesn't really chew too much now. Waht about maybe putting a chew toy in the crib? Rylee has a little blankie and her dollie that she likes and I think that distracts her form chewing. HTH.
