Hi Emily,
Here is a link where it was discussed that will give you a better idea.

http://www.momsview.com/discus/messages/23/10924.html

They do have a Website as well that will answer some questions. They also have a store where they sell all of their books and audio tapes and cd's. To start, I would recommend the book "Love and Logic. Magic for Early Childhood." It's written really, really well and is super easy to follow. I think it's the best for starting out because of it's format. Happy reading!:)

Thank you Eve.

Thanks for the question Emily, I've been wondering the same thing. Thanks for the link, Eve. It sounds like a great strategy. Very similar to what I try to do but I would love an organized approach and some advice for it.

Thanks for the link but I have to know what is the "Uh-Oh" song?

By Nicosmom on Tuesday, June 29, 2004 - 10:14 pm:

I was just going to ask this question. So I should read the book first?

LOL-The "Uh-oh song" isn't really a song that you would normally think of. They just sort of call it a song. It's a phrase they use when a child misbehaves. Instead of getting angry, the "uh-oh song" is just a tool you use to keep you calm. You just calmly say "Uh-oh" (Like the sound of a bell, "diiing-dong") kind of a little higher pitched and when you say it, it sort of keeps your mouth in a smile. So, you are saying to your child "Not a problem, I can handle anything and I am calm."

They (Love & Logic founders) believe that anger just creates more bad behavior and doesn't solve anything.

Also, later on, the "Uh-oh" becomes a cue to them to stop whatever bad behavior is happening. For my DD now, she hears it and RUNS. LOL! She knows it means she is going straight to her room. She knows the drill now.

It's just a very calm way to parent that allows the child to do the thinking and to take responsibilty for themselves. It's also Parent centered, so all the solutions and choices work for Mom and Dad. It takes some practice, but it's helped in our house so much.

I hope that helps some. Check out their Website, they can explain better than I can.:)

I just went to the website! I was pleasantly surprised to find out that there are resources for educators as well. I bought the book for teachers and also the early childhood book from Amazon.com. At amazon, you get free shipping with orders of $25 or more. I can't wait to get them. Hopefully I can get them read before school starts in August!
