Disinfecting Sprays???

Moms View Message Board: Parenting Discussion: Archive January-June 2004: Disinfecting Sprays???

Which would you recommend?

I've been watching a boy who I found out (kinda late) is sick so DD is sick now. I want to spray down all her toys but with something not harmful to her. I don't want to deal with bleach or anything that will leave water in the toys.

Any recommendations???

I use Lysol and they have a great new Green Apple sent. They use Lysol at the doctor's office too. I think the Clorox spray leaves too much of a residue.

If you watch kids I would spray everything down at the end of the day and if it is flu/cold season sometimes more.

Thanks, i'll have to go buy some.

I don't watch kids all the time, just helping out the neighbor. Her child has all the effects of her smoking while pregnant- weak immunity, asthma, constant bronchitis. I didn't even second thought it when she asked me to watch him so here I am with my sick little girl and a sick boy who seems to never be better. :(

That's so sad about that little boy... what a shame!! We swear by Lysol in our house. I have been buying the HEB (grocery store) brand, only because it's so expensive to buy name brand! We use it every time we change the garbage bag, and whenever I disinfect the kids toys and cribs. Hope your cutie pie feels better soon!!!

Clorox wipes are great. They don't leave a residue and they disinfect.
I had a friend over and her son is in the mouthing stage. I took note of every toy that went into his mouth and cleaned them all with clorox wipes after he left. I let them sit for a few hours before I gave them back to my son.

I love the Clorox wipes too. Although, there are never enough in a package. I go through them like crazy. I also like Lysol spray. It seems to last a really long time.:)

If you belong to a BJ's or other wholesale club you can get packs of 3 containers with 60 wipes each.

We use the lysol too! I spray it ALL over the house! LOL
I like the crisp linen scent very much!

I like the fresh linen scent and I use it all over everything when someone is sick. Unfortunately, I'm not very good about using it until then. I think it helps keep all of us from getting sick.

I'm glad to hear she is feeling better. Don't forget to spray your door knobs, they are one of the worst places for germs.

Glad she is feeling better. I LIVE by the clorox wipes...

I'm sure if she's already sick, she's been exposed to the germs already, so cleaning is not going to help. I use Lysol myself for preventative measures- especially when the stomach bug hits! I worry about inhaling it though. Don't know if that's a danger, but I often wonder if it is or not. Both my boys are prone to croup/wheezing so it's something I think about a lot.
