Has anyone adopted through Foster Care or within the U.S.? I'm just wondering what it entails and how difficult a process it is?

I'm not sure I would like to adopt a newborn, but I think I would like to adopt a child younger than my DD, 3 1/2.

I think you have to go through a home study, but I heard it is an easier home study than adoption abroad.

I would call them up and chat them up and see what you can expect. Each area is different.

My friend adopted two older brothers. They are big now - 16 and 18.

Just be very, very careful. If the child has an attachment disorder it could rip your world apart. This happened to a family member who found a child that was being put up for adoption and his psychological problems were never revealed to them. Make sure you find a very reputable agency.
