Lunch ideas for a one year old
It's been 4 years since I've had to worry about this, I've forgotten what I did. Does anyone have any ideas or can anyone tell me what they give their one year old. Any and all advice is greatly appreciated. TIA
My dd is 14 months. A lot of times we eat left overs for lunch. She also likes scrambled egg with cheese, macaroni and cheese, pasta, grilled sandwiches. I do veggie burgers, occassional tuna fish, fish sticks, chicken and cheese quesadillas (can make a bunch and freeze for quick lunches). And with her lunch she always has either a fruit or vegetable. DD LOVES food and she isn't very fussy so usually she'll eat whatever I put in front of her. At about 11 months she refused to eat the gerber jarred food anymore. I think the easiest is to reheat dinner left overs.
Also hotdogs, crackers with cheese & lunch meat, soup in a sipper if we are on the go, salad
grilled cheese sandwiches cut in little bitty pieces, apple sauce, and green beans(canned) slightly warmed Vegetable Soup, yogurt and apple sauce. Cooked Pasta (egg noodles are good), carrots and peas-cooked till soft, bannana's, and ice cream
I feed my one year old the following: peanut butter sandwich, grilled cheese, green beans (or any veggie available) small bits of fruit, crackers & cheese, yogurt. She has a mouth full of teeth and can chew anything so occasionally I give her whatever I am eating, nuggets, pizza - usually if we are out to eat. I give her about 2 cups of whole milk to drink and watered down juice.
Thank you everyone. I've been giving her some of the foods that have been suggested. I guess I just wanted to see if anyone else was feeding their child the same things. My daughter doesn't have that many teeth, maybe 6 or 7, so that's why I have a hard time trying to think of new things. I'm never sure what she can handle as far as chewing goes. I just felt she needed more variety. Thanks for all of the suggestions. Carol
My one year old only has 4 teeth and she eats most things pretty good (except for chewy bread products). One thing I also give her that wasn't suggested (I don't think) is a tortilla in bite size pieces with lunch meat and cheese. I have had the same problem as you; this is my first so it has been alot of trial and error trying to figure out what she will eat! It is amazing; one day she is "miss independent" and won't eat unless it is something she can feed herself and the next day she won't eat unless I feed her!
Emdee, she's not my first, but my son had a whole mouth full of teeth at this age so I didn't have this problem. And my son and daughter are like night and day, it's amazing. I'll have to try lunch meat; I never thought of that.
My oldest had no teeth at age one. her doc said really those front teeth are just for tearing not eating, so just make small pieces of whatever and let her gums work!
Kaye, I wondered about doing that. I always see her gums mashing away. Thanks.
