DS just came home from school...

Moms View Message Board: Parenting Discussion: Archive January-June 2004: DS just came home from school...

with what the school nurse thinks is chicken pox!!! He is 18 and had the vaccine when he was 8, he only has about 15 of them. He is now at the doctors having them checked out.
His girlfriends brother and sister had them about 2 weeks ago...So we will see what the doctor says.
I am hoping its not because he doesn't want to miss any days his senior year. Hopefully if thats what it is he will just have a mild case. His senior class trip to Arizona is next Wednesday, so I think he will be ok by then...
Keeping my fingers crossed its not the pox..

Thats about the right length of time. They are real nasty in adults. My brother had them at 16 and you couldn't stand a dime between them. Hopefully since your ds has had the vaccine they won't be as bad. It sould also be shingles! Make sure he stays away from anyone pregnant!

Keep us posted! What an end to a senior year!

He got home from the doctors and it is a mild case of the chicken poxs!!! He is not to happy, he will be off school till Monday. I thought he
would like a vacation, but he loves school. Especially senior year!
The only thing he is saying is that he is tired.
So the doctor recommended benadryl and calamine lotion. In which I think the benadryl will make him tired.
Never a dull moment!!!

Your poor son. I had them as a 6 week old infant and got them again at 16. Both cases were very mild. Maybe the vaccine will mean the same thing for him. At least he's not whiny, sleeping makes it easier on you.

Poor thing! My co-worker's DH got them when he was a senior in high school too! I hope he's over them SOON!

My siblings and I got it the one week my mom left us alone with my dad, LOL, he had a 3 1/2 year old, a two year old and a 13 month old all with chicken pox, and bad too. Needless to say he never let her leave us alone with him like that again, LOL.
