When did your baby first sit on his own?
Also, how many months was dd or ds when he/she began to hold his bottle or sippy cup for the first time?
My litte girl started sitting around 6 months, although if I remember right, she wasn't just super steady then. I think I still put pillows around her for when she fell, but she was sitting pretty good. Now, she was preemie and behind on everything else (she didn't roll over until 9 months!!), so I don't know if mine is a good one to go by. She never would take a bottle, so even at 10-11 months she didn't know how to hold a sippy cup on her own and tilt it to drink out of. I started using a straw cup and she does great with that since she doesn't have to tilt it to drink.
I don't remember when they held their own bottle/cup, but I do remember they were both around 8 months old when they could sit up by themselves.
I think mine started sitting....but would still topple over around 5-6 months they were all starting to crawl around this time, except for the middle one I think he was around 7 months (he just rolled and scooted on his head everywhere). I can't remember when they started holding their bottle...I know they were holding their spoons and going from spoon to mouth around 6 months. I'm scared to guess on the bottle.
They are all so different! DS was a BIG baby (95th%) and couldn't sit up well on his own until 8 mos.. I never encouraged him to hold his own bottle because I didn't want him to become too attached to it. He didn't quite get the hang of holding a sippy cup until 10 or 11 mos.. DD was sitting up and holding/drinking from a sippy cup like a pro at 6 mos..
All of my kids have sat up on their own right around 6 months. They also held their own bottle around 6 months as well. It took awhile longer for them to get the hang of the sippy cup. Maybe about 8 months or so.
DD starting sitting around 6 months. She was holding her bottle at 5 months. The sippy cup transition took forever! I tried to start giving it to her around 6 months and we couldn't find one that worked well for her. The NP told me not to worry about it until she was a year old. DD was more stubborn about it at that age but finally she is using them exclusively at 13 months. We have to be careful about which ones we give to her though. I liked the Gerber ones but DD has learned that if she bangs the cup on her high chair a few times that she can make the valve pop out and then she can spill her milk all over her tray.
My older child didn't sit good until about 7 months, but she was 4 weeks early when she was born. I think it was around 6-7 months for sitting with my younger one, too. I can't remember when they held a bottle by themselves, though.
