Connor has been doing starfall.com since he was 2.5 yrs of age and now he's just going crazy!

He did this session all by himself, on my laptop, and got all the right answers the first time!!! He's even starting to do the blending sound pages like "ch".

I'm sooooooooooo proud of my little 3 yr old!!

Congrats to Connor!

wow he's 3 and did that all by himself? That's great, he must be so smart!

My son learned a lot of stuff before school, just from watching big sis. But the bad thing was that he was bored out of his mind in kindergarten because he already knew 95% of the stuff they taught. He would come home and cry and not want to go to school because it was too easy. He wanted a challenge.
And he has been bored in first grade for most of this year so far.
So my advice is to try not to let him get too far ahead! :)

Thanks, Patti. There is actually a gifted and talented charter school that most of his Montessori peers funnel into once they "graduate" at around 5 yrs of age. The charter school is free, but we'll see if he's ahead at that point. I still have to check the school out. Just because it's a gifted and talented school doesn't mean it's going to be right for him. If not, our local school is also very good and has challenging programs starting in kindergarten. They've received many awards because of it. I might even try to keep him in Montessori for the long run, but we'll have to take a look at our finances and what opportunities are out there.

This kid still likes to run into walls for fun though, so there's a chance that residual brain damage might take over eventually. :)

That's really great! I typically did not have children at the beginning of K who understand /ch/ and we didn't teach it in K unless it was warranted on an individual basis. Here, G&T programs require excellence such as that in *all* content areas to gain admission into the program.

Natalie loves Starfall, and I think it honestly was the single biggest influence in her learning her letters. Regardless of what we were doing together, she would have learned them through that site alone I think. It's so easy for them to use it independently, it's fun, they work on computer skills, and gain all that exposure literacy at the same time.

Way to go Connor!

Deanna, he's doing really well in other things too. Memory, attention span, creativity, fine motor skills, etc. I was just floored by this particular work. :) And, yes, it's the program itself that is amazing. He's glued to it for 45min-1 hour a day. I am also amazed he can navigate this computer so well too...sure beats his grandparents!! LOL
