6-Year-Old Strangulated In Car Window

Stories like this make me SICK. :( I've heard too many. NEVER would have happened if the parents didn't leave the kids unsupervised.

OMG, that's horrible! Kids should never be left unattended in a vehicle.

That is so sad. :( I read that and then looked at my 6yo day care boy (J). I couldn't imagine what that poor child went through. What he was thinking--knowing how to roll the window down and not being able to do it. I told J's mom about this tonight and she said just this morning he was asking her to show him how to work the window locks in her car. Just so sad. :(

That is sad, i can't even leave my kids in the car even when i can see them! I am so scared the car will start to roll or someone will snatch them. My dh lets them sit in the car when he is outside working on it and that makes me worried!

a couple years ago in CO a girl, I think like 18 went to drop her 19 month old son off at the babysitters, well the sitter wasnt home so she went to work, it was 95 degrees outside the car that day, and the baby was in the car for 8 hours. He died, the mother said she forgot that she didn't drop him off at the babysitter. Needless to say, I could never ever ever ever forget about my child in the car. I think that girl was full of it anyway. She was convicted and sentanced to 25 years in prison.

A similar incident happened here in CA. Unfortunately, my dh knew the mother and the baby should have been taken from her several times before that. It was heartbreaking that something of this magnitude had to be what opened people's eyes to her total lack of parenting skills and her incredible lack of maturity. I was sick to know that her child could still be alive now if the appropriate measures had been taken.

Ugh..so sad. I still cant even bear to leave my son alone when I run in to get milk at the convenience store. He frightens me to death also when he runs around ahead of us in stores, yet his dad is like we can see him. But you just never know, things happen so quickly.

i don't understand how this is still happening. when you have your children they consume so much of your heart and mind, and to just "forget" about them is unacceptable. or to be so lazy that you can't take the two minutes to get them out of the car to run into a store is pure neglect. there was a woman here in Vegas, that left her 2 year old son in a running car to go get a pair of shoes. her car was stolen. they found it a couple of hours later at a 7-11 store with the child still in it (thank God he was okay) and the police pressed charges, but i don't think they were harsh enough. it's just so sickening that you hear about this so often.
