Switching from formula to milk

Switching from formula to milk
I'm about to switch by son from formula to whole milk. I'm not sure how to do it. He's on Soy Formula right now. Should I keep him on soy milk or start on whole milk? He was on soy formula because he had so much gas when he was an infant and I just never changed. Any suggestions?
Try the whole milk and see how he does. I usually do it as a gradual thing so their belly's can adjust. I usually do the milk in a cup and formula in their bottles and then gradually give them less and less of the formula and if you plan to break him from the bottle soon this will help with the transition.
I would actually do it a bit more gradually. Mix a bit of whole milk in the formula and see how he does. (like 1 part milk, three parts formula). DO that for awhile and see if he gets a bellyache. If so, switch to soy for awhile (as it might be a virus) and try again a few weeks later. If not, gradually increase to 1/2 and 1/2 and the 3 parts, one part and then the whole thing. As far as the bottle/cup transition, I usually did juice only in the cup and milk/formula only in the bottle and then gradually started giving milk in the cup.
My son was also on Soy. They told me to slowly start mixing a little milk with the soy and to keep adding a little more milk each time. It worked great and he was fine with milk when he was a year old.
I did the same thing as mentioned by LauraM. This was very easy for me though it could be difrent for you with Ds since he is on Soy. If you are unsure you could call the Dr and ask them what you should be doing. You may also only want to try one bottle a day with the formula/milk mixed, due to digestion factors, it may be easier to tell if he is only getting one bottle a day of milk.
Thanks for the good advise. We have his year apt coming up so I'll ask them more. I think I'll start real slow. He's also teething and I don't want to much change at once. Thanks for the help. It's really nice to know that I can ask questions and get such great advise. I really appreciate it being a first time mom with a million questions.
