DD is sick & has terrible smelling breath.
I'm going to call the Dr. now and check with him. I am just hoping that it's not a sign of strep throat or something. It is the same smell that I can smell coming from her ears when she has an ear infection. Most people think I am nuts, but I have a super sensitive nose. Anyway, just wondering what you all think it is? I'm off to call. I'll keep you posted.
Usually when my son has really bad breath and hes sick, it tends to be strep. I hope shes feeling better soon.
Ditto the strep. It was a dead giveaway when one of mine had it. Poor Syd! Hope she's better soon!
What'd the doc say? Hugs to both you and Syd.
Alex was sick with a fever and had major bad breathe well come to find out he has a few abscessed teethe. They don't hurt him right now but they reak lol.I tell him his breathe is fierce = )
I agree with the strep thing. When my oldest DD had strep, I could definitely tell something wasn't smelling right! I have a super sensitive nose as well. My DH thinks I'm nuts....I can smell anything coming from anywhere!
Oh Eve, I am sorry she is sick! I will keep my fingers crossed that it's not strep and she just needs a tic tac.
Well, the Dr. said her throat looks sore, but the quick test came back negative for Strep. He is still sending a test away too. So, looks like a virus that we'll have to ride out. Bummer!
Each time my DD got sick, she always had that horrid breath!!!!!! I could barely let her sleep in my arms it was so bad. It was always a tonsil infection with her. Never strep. Since you also have that smell in the ears, it could very well be sinus and or tonsil infection. I would be surprised if it is a virus. With that type of smell, I would think it "has to be" an infection. Antibiotics was the only thing that worked w/ DD. After 3 yrs of this, we finally got those dang tonsils out!!!!! This year, we have not had a sinus infection! If it is not gone in a few days I would see the dr again (actually, I doubt I could last more than one extra day). I truly can't imagine it being anything other than an infection that antibiotics wont get rid of. Keep checking for fever too. If she has a fever, that means she is getting worse, not better...and it could get bad pretty quickly since she already "smelly"
He didn't give us antibiotics. But, if the smell doesn't get better, I'll take her back in. I hate having a sick girl!
