I am wondering how many people use Claritin or allergy medicine for their kids?
Ds needs to start taking something because he is constantly congested all year long in his nose and can't breathe through his nose. Speech teacher says she can't correct his speech due to his congestion. We tried zytrec but it cause diarrea so I guess we will try liquid clariton. The nasal spray the doctor prescribed was a wash too. DS would not let it near his nose.
Ds #1 just started Zyrtec this fall. No probs with side effects.
My son has been on Zyrtec for about a year now and it does really good for him with no side affects other than it knocks him out. I have to give it to him at bed time. We have tried Claritin but it didn't help as well.
My son had an allergic reaction to Clarirtin. He broke out in hives. What I did for him was I changed his diet. Sounds weird but it worked. I put him on more fruits and veggies, cut out caffiene, and also cut out red food dye. We tried that for 1 month and within the first couple of days he was getting better. He know can eat and drink what he wants but in moderation and we have not had to do a breathing treatment in over 4 yrs. Hope everything works out.
My DS has been on Claritin (RediTabs - they dissolve quickly on the tongue) for a year now with no problems.
Doctor said Claratin and Zyrtec are basically the same thing so I don't know if it will give ds diarrea again. Will try it once and see.
My DS has been on Claritin, Zyrtec, Allegra, Nasonex, Flonase, and/or Clarinex. He has chronic allergies and has been on an antihistimine since he was 11 months old and diagnosed with allergies and asthma. Every 6 months or so he builds up a tolerance to the antihistimine and it doesn't work as well, so we have to swap to a different one. He's currently on Clarinex and Nasonex and they are working pretty well for him. Claritin is too expensive now that it's OTC b/c our insurance coverage pays for prescriptions. It's actually cheaper for us (not my insurance company) to get something other than Claritin. One good thing about Claritin is that it comes in the Reditabs as Trina mentioned---so much easier to deal with than liquids.
Hello, my DS has allergy`s and is taking advair and nasonex.(the nasonex really helped his congestion) when you administered the nasal spray feona did you position the bottle a certain way? because I know if you point it directly up it can cause discomfort, you kind of have to angle it. DS always tells me when it is done wrong he takes them nightly. He had a reaction to claritin also so he can`t take it. both meds keeps his allergy`s under control. He is currently getting allergy shots also.
My daughter used to use claritin every day. She had exzema pretty bad. she finally outgrew it. She didn't have any problems while taking it. No drowsines or anything.
