Can babies cut teeth at 3 months??

Moms View Message Board: Parenting Discussion: Archive July-December 2003: Can babies cut teeth at 3 months??

Cassi is 3 months and has started drooling. She constantly has her hands in her mouth, not sucking them but knawing on them. Is it possible for teething to start this early? My mom said I had my first tooth at 3 and half months, but I did'nt really know to beleive that or not. Both of my boys did'nt get their first tooth until they were about 5-5 and half months.
What do ya think?

You bet they can! My son had 2 teeth at 4 months!!
He had his 2 year molars when he was 18 months.
My dd who turned 2 in June is just getting one of her 2 year molars. Its funny how they get them at different times.

Yup, my first DD got her first tooth 6 months to the day, but my second DD got hers at 3 1/2 months. The drooling started at 3 months and I was shocked when I saw the little tooth bud under her swollen gums a week or two later. She was eating cheerios by the time she was 6 months old!

My 8 year old daughter and 2 year old daughter cut there teeth real early Dannah the oldest she started cutting hers when she wasn't quite 3 months and Josie I think her first 2 teeth came in at 3 months. Though I have noticed since they have cut theres earlier they tend to have more problems with tooth decay and stuff. my other 2 who are 5 and 2 cut there's normal they don't have really any problems so I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

Mine started the drooling thing at 3 months too, however no teeth accualy came in for about 2 more months.
Momoffour, I heard the same thing about the earlier the teeth the more they are prone to problems.

Had a friend whose child was born with teeth. She breastfed! It's possible and normal.

yep, it's possible. I remember my dd at 4 months. She was like a dripping faucet with the drool! Her little drool bibs were constantly soaked!
