Caillou
I think I have seen this post before on here, but I couldn't find it. Does anyone agree with me that Caillou is a little spoiled?? I don't really like the way he acts or the lack of respect for his mommy & sister!!
I wouldnt say Caliou is spoiled. Hes a typical kid in my opinion. And no hes not always nice to his sister and mother, but I think its more realistic that way.
Maybe so. I guess I don't like the way he sasses his mom & whines. Then she doesn't do anything about it, like it sends a bad message...
I can't stand it either. I started making sure my dd doesnt watch it. What a whiner!
I stopped letting my DD watch it when she started imitating him and crossing her hands over her chest and saying "hmmmph" when she didn't get her way. That show is just awful in my opinion and you should listen to the grandmother narrator....she says the word hate a lot which I don't like either.
OOOh, I never noticed her using that word. I hate that word! LOL No really, we don't use that word in our house with the children!!! I also don't allow my children to do many of the things Caillou does. The crossing of the arms thing that you mentioned is one of them.. Talking back in general! Our children will talk back enough & have to be steered in the right direction without us showing them how to do it on TV!! To me, it's like, "here, you wanna see how to get in trouble?? Let's watch Caillou"!! LOL
I don't remember noticing that about Caillou. My daughter was almost too old for it when it first came out and she didn't like it and wouldn't watch it. I think it was on when she got ready for school. It's on at 8am. I'll have to try to remember to watch it on Monday to see what you guys are talking about. I don't remember that much about the show.
Yeah check it out Dawnk & let me know if you agree!
My kids used to watch it all the time, and they loved it. I didn't ever see anything wrong with it. I certainly don't think it made them whine or become cheeky. If I find something in a show that bugs me, I use it as a teaching moment. Whether they see these on tv or not, they're going to see them in real life. I ask them what they think about what they saw/heard, and what could be done differently. Works for us.
My youngest daughter remembers Caillou being kind of cranky. Will try to remember to watch it on Monday morning.
Caillou is so annoying! I just can't stand that whiny voice. I try to make sure my kids don't watch it because it is so annoying to me.
I was just going to post something about this. My dd is only 11 months old so she really doesn't watch much tv. But I have noticed this too. His voice is irritating and he is very whiny. When his mother or whoever says something like "it's time to go", he always whines and asks to stay or do something longer, and they always give in. I know it is just a cartoon, but when my dd gets older and I ask her to do something or tell her it's time to go, she will not whine or ask me to stay longer. I think this sends a message, that if you whine, you get your way.
Forgot to watch it today. I'm going to set the vcr to tape it tomorrow, since I would probably forget then, too. It's only one once a day and I just missed it.
I absolutely hate caillou! I make sure my kids avoid it as well. He's a whiny spoiled brat!
Never watched this but I will for sure now be sure to skip it next time I see it.
Ditto what Marcia said.
