(Sigh) Tough Week

Moms View Message Board: Parenting Discussion: (Sigh) Tough Week
By Enchens on Thursday, October 18, 2007 - 04:01 pm:

Just a letting out some frustration here. My two boys have been really trying my patience this week. It started on Monday when they took a stepstool, got into my kitchen canisters and spilled coffee grounds and cornstarch ALL over the floor. They were literally covered from head to toe.

They've stripped the beds of everything, the older one wrote/carved his name on his headboard with a pencil (thank goodness it wasn't ink!), they dumped ALL of the toys from their bins in the toy room, and so much more.

They've been getting into anything and everything, and fighting over everything, even the vacuum cleaner! They're 2.5 and 4.5 and they already know how to push each other's buttons.

Of course this is the week that dh has been working a lot. He's had three late nights this week. Two of the nights he didn't get to see the kids before bed. He's leaving tomorrow on a trip with his buddies and I'm just praying I can survive with these two boys until he gets back.

I just heard something in the kitchen and I'm soooo afraid to find out what it is.

Thanks for letting me destress.

Oh My Gosh! I'm sorry but this post made me laugh! Not because I'm a big meanie but your house sounds just like my house and I feel your pain and well sometimes you just have to laugh or you'll cry.

I find that there are times when my two little "darlings" just seem to get into everything, don't listen and drive each other nuts. This usually happens when DH is working and away a lot or we've been couped up in the house for too long.

The cure for this kind of behavior in our house is a really strict mommy for a few days, discussions of expected behavior, lots of praise for good stuff and lots and lots and lots of exercise. I try to tire them out so much that they have no energy for mischief.

Good luck and big hugs. Sounds like you need a girls night out!
