TIPS! for "My Son Doesn't Like Having His Hair Washed."
I think I remember a post awhile back where someone mentioned that they have trouble washing their child's hair, without having to listen to a bunch of screaming and crying. I have THE SAME problem with both of my sons. I found some tips in a magazine that I thought were extremely helpful, and I would like to share them with you. These were from the Parents magazine June 2003 issue, pg 22. (I will briefly list some of the tips...these are not exact quotes) - Use a brush with a small amount of shampoo on it to brush through the child's hair. To get the shampoo out, rinse the brush and run it through the hair a few more times. - Use an empty ketchup bottle to rinse shampoo out. You can control the stream of water and keep it out of his eyes. - Tape a large picture of something the child likes on the ceiling over the bathtub. Direct the child's attention to it, and while she is looking up, rinse shampoo out. - Rubber bath visor - Play "beauty parlor" and hold child's head over the sink - Take a bath with child and while she is cleaning you with bubbles, wash her hair...she may have so much fun, she won't even notice you're cleaning her hair. There are a few more tips that I did not post, these were my favorites. I know these tips will help me tremendously! Hope they help some of you out...
I just got a Parenting Magazine in the mail yesterday, and they had this question in there...I will put here the tips and tricks they had in there. Some were pretty cute LOL Amy....I wii post the ones you didn't Heres my fav: Get a rubber bath visor...the water runs off the hat, not into the eyes. here's another: play soapy hair, with a mirror let the child see the hair, and make suds in the hair, smoosh the hair, into mohawks, and pony tails.......or pretend to take animals out of the hair, horse, cat, dog,
I got my Parenting in the mail yesterday too, and remember that article in Parents. Suprisingly, both my kids love the water dumped on their head. They jump and then laugh at it.
Bath visors worked wonders when my kids were little.
Bath visors were great for #1 and #2 but #3 refuses to keep it on her head. And then she cries when I dump the water. Ugh! I may give the kethup bottle a try. Thanks!
