Preschool tears??
Moms View Message Board: Parenting Discussion: Preschool tears??
Connor has been going MWF to a Montessori preschool that has 15 kids, from 8:30-11:30am. It's been 2 weeks and he's still crying (a lot) when I drop him off! Ugh. The teachers there are so nice though and comfort him, but I feel awful driving off when he's crying so hard! By the time I pick him up, he's fine and talks about his buddies, what he shared, etc. I try to talk about school in the off-days, but it's not helping. Any advice? Tricks? I think it will help when he goes every morning in August, so I'm trying to be patient.
It is so hard. I don't have any advice, just BTDT. Christopher went through phases too, so don be surprised if he seems to be ok with it for awhile, then he starts crying every morning again. As long as he is happy when you pick him up, then you know he is ok. Christopher LOVES his school, and it has really helped him with his social skills. (We don't really have any friends who have kids) It'll get easier! I promise!
My dd had no problem with pre-k but cried for the first few weeks of kindergarten. It was all day and hard to adjust I'm sure. Then at random, she would cry through the year. She had a good time, I think when it's drop off time they know it's the beginning of the longest time they go without you. Plus, I think she thought I'd forget her or something. Hugs!
