Stupid Pacifier!!!!

Ugh! I swore I wouldn't give Luke a paci. I hated it with Christopher, and ended up taking it away at 3 months because the same thing happened with him that is happening with luke. He goes to sleep with it, and sleeps fine for a couple hours. Then, I am up every half hour to put the darn thing back in his mouth! I am a walking zombie right now, after doing this two nights in a row then working both days afterwards. With Christopher, we took the paci away, and he fussed a little, but went right to sleep without it. I don't believe Luke will be that easy. He hasn't been a great sleeper already, and without his paci things might get worse. But I can't get up round the clock to put that thing in his mouth! Maybe I should break out the duct tape?!? (just joking of course)
I have to say before I had kids I laughed about the warning on the package "do not tie around child's neck. After I had kids I sooo understood why that was on there. good luck!
I used to leave 5 of them within arms reach of my girls, so that they could easily grab one when they woke up. Worked like a charm!
My sister went through that with her oldest and I vowed that I wouldn't. So...I would let mine have the pacifier to get to sleep and then I would pull it out of their mouths and out of the crib. They learned pretty quickly that they had to sleep without it all night. Just a thought.
We used a clip with Natalie, regardless of the "warnings" that are sometimes out there. The paci clip was short and really wasn't dangerous at all. We also had another one in the crib for her to grab if needed. I remember going through that phase also...going in just to replace the paci.
He is only 3 months old, so he doesn't have the coordination to put one back in his mouth. So, I just didn't give it to him tonight. He fussed and cried for about ten minutes. I kept going in there and rubbing his belly, and he just went to sleep. I'm not getting my hopes up that he will stay that way all night, but it went better than I thought!
I bought about 10 paci's for both kids and had them in the crib that way they could find them when they needed them.
Connor still slept in the swing and his paci would always come out, but the swing would keep him asleep. I'm so happy he eventually went to sleep for you though! We also kept a bazillion paci's in the crib once he could reach for his own. Keep us updated!
this might not help with the sleepness night but as for weening I just didn't increase up to the next size when my daugher was a baby. eventually it wouldn't work in her mouth like it was supposed to and she just kind of put it aside. She is 6 now and every once and a while she will still ask to see her old paci. lol
I remember doing exactly the same thing! I was SOOO tired until he learned to grab for one himself.
