10 Month old grinding his teeth
Gabe is 10 months old and he is grinding his teeth. What can we do to stop it? Why is he doing it? I know he is still teething but never have I heard a baby do this. It is driving us all nuts. Help please!! Thanks in advance.
My DS (now 3 1/2 years old) did that constantly after his teeth came in! I can't remember exactly when it stopped, but it seemed like forever! Hang in there!
Has your baby been sick lately? Because when im sick i tend to do it ,i have since i was a baby. Also my little boy did it around that age and i askd his dr. and he said that he was doing it because its a new sensation kinda like if youve ever bit ur lip and caused a sore, you usualy end up touching it with your tongue.Grinding your teeth for an extensive period of time can cause damage. On his next visit i would ask the Dr. about it but i wouldnt been real concerned.Hope i helped
No advice here Aunt Candy just wanted to bump this up for you...
Candy, please post if you find anything out!! My DS is 13 months old, has 4 teeth and grinds them. It sends chills up and down my spine. We've started to tap him on his lips and say no when he does it. But he just looks at us like we are nuts and goes about his business with grinding some more! He just started doing this the past couple months. My DD's never did this. I know it has to be bad for his teeth. Just wish I knew how to get him to stop!
I have just touched his lips and told him not to do it but he is still to young to know what I am doing. Mommyathome I can't help you out on this one we are in the same boat.lol This is my grandson that lives with us. I had 2 DD's and they never did this either. I am starting to wonder if it's a boy thing. DH asked a guy from his work about if his sons (he has 2 boy ages almost 2 and 11 months (11month old was an oops) . He said that they do it too. Okay, so is it just a Boy thing or does girls do it also?
I have 4 children and each of them would grind their teeth when they were teething. After observing this, I believe that they do this for the following reasons; 1) It feels good. When they are teething, biting down helps their gums feel better, and the other teeth just happen to grind. 2) They like the sound of it. It's something new that they can do all by themselves, and this fascinates them. Finally, 3) It gets attention! Each time you react to their grinding, they get a little attention from Mom and/or Dad. Don't worry about it. They grow out of it before any damage is done.
my 4 yr old is doing it terribly right now! On vacation 2 wks ago I "slept" beside him and couldn't believe the noise that came out of that little boy! Yikes!
