DD isn't better with the rash
After flashing Big Brother, and her Daddy, both arms raised, runnin through the living room hollerin....and just so proud "I'm healed I'm healed!" It's back again, but worse this go around. The kids are out of school Mon. Dh is off, so he will be taking both kids to the Dr. for me. I haven't changed anything on that kid. She is using the same soap (Caress). After she was in the tub for a few minutes, I came in to check on her, and she had it all over! I asked if she used anything at all in her water, she said no, was just playing with the toys. I dunno. This is got me bummed. And poor Ds too. He's got something wrong with his hands. I SWEAR!! UGH!
Sorry to hear that Mechelle! I hope everything gets cleared up! Could it possibly be something in the water? Just a thought...
I think I'd just go to a dermatologist this time around, how frustrating!
Sounds like some type of contact dermatis. I agree, a dermatologist seems like a good plan at this point. It could just be an allergy to something, like clothes detergent (residue in her clothes), but you want to rule out anything infectious or contagious. Good luck.
I would ask the pharmacy to recommend a soap and shampoo that would not cause allergies. Perhaps Caress isn't the best soap to use. I there might be chemicals left over in the tub that she is allergic too. Did you clean the tub recently?
I was wondering the same thing as Feona about the chemicals. I've heard of that causing rashes. Hope you can figure this out!!
At the time her rash apperared, I didn't use any soap, shampoo, anything on her. Nothing in her water. I cleaned the tub out before she got in....and used vinegar afterwards, (Ginny's advice) still, the rash popped up. It wasn't worse or better even after I gave her a bath. I don't believe it's the soap or shampoo. I guess now the route to go with this is a dermatologist.
Try showering her instead of bathing her. Also, aveeno products are great. I just started using the shower gel and cream, and we all have better skin for it. The heat of baths always makes rashes come out more, so it might have nothing to do with the water, cleaners or soaps, but just the heat.
It could be something in the water she is reacting to. Possibly too much clorine (sp?). Just a thought.
Mechelle, could it be excema?Spelling?? My ds had it when she was real little and still has flare ups at two. I would definately see the dermatologist. The doctor told me my daughter had scabies. I was horrified not to mention all the work it took to wash EVERYTHING!! The deramtologist took one look and gave her a prescription that cleared it right up!Good Luck!
How awful. Let us know how it turns out.
Mechelle, I sent you an email.
Thanks everyone so much. Marcia, I don't know, I will give her a shower tonight. And see if that dosen't make a difference. Just weird to me all of a sudden this pops up, and won't go away. She's always taken baths. Beth, it could be, I have that on my hands, (they peel) My hands get really bumpy, hot, sore, red, then they start to itch terribly bad, then they peel, after 3 weeks, they heal up, and it's gone. I never thought, she could have the same thing, but just in a different form of it. (your spelling is better than mine! I won't spell itlol) Missy, I've had my water tested not too long ago. Everything tested fine, nothing was too high or too low. I can have them test it again.
my daughter has a rash that the dr said that is just an allergic reaction to heat ... comes up mostly on her thighs but can spread all over her body .... its round and flowery ... heat makes it show it up and to test this lol we gave her a cool shower and when she cooled off it wasnt so prominent we laffed ..the dr said some kids are just heat sensitive ..and when she gets warm it happens ... hot baths like she likes to take makes her still react ... see if coolin the water happens to change the effects ... we just laff at her and she dont take hot showers at school ...that is a bit embarrassin ...kids would think that she was some contagious thing ... but its not just the way she is .... lol
My DH gets little prickly red spots when he gets too warm, like when he has to wear his chemical suit for training. He doesn't sweat very much, so it's his body's reaction to compensate. Could be something like that for your DD...
