Age for crafting

What is a good age to start kids on crafting?
My kids have been doing crafts since they were babies. I let them start finger and foot painting as infants. I've had a creative shelf in my kitchen forever, with paper, paint, scissors, glue, stickers, etc. They can use the stuff whenever they want. My 11 and 9 yeard olds enjoy corking, and the 9 year old has started knitting. They've both done a bit of scrapbooking. As you can tell, I think it's great to introduce creativity as early as possible. I also agree it should be just that - creativity, and not something we want them to do a certain way. It's great to watch them express themselves.
I have a little shoebox filled with glue sticks, glitter(in a little shaker bottle),scraps of paper, and little pictures that I cut out of catalogues.... When I sit down to do a craft, I take out the box and let Ds(3)go at it..... It usually involves me having to stop what I am doing to help Ds....but I agree with Marcia-any age is a great age to do crafts with kids... fiona
Another ditto here! I started them with coloring just as soon as they sat in their high chairs. While I made dinner they would sit and color. Now for my youngest I had to keep tkaing the colors away because he would eat them..LOL. Also because I had a house full of little ones I would make wednesday art day. I would just dedicate an hour or so to painting, chalking outside etc. We have done fingerpainting with pudding, those new color wonder paints seem very cool, I let them stamp and do colages. Enjoy!
My kids are 5,4 and 2 and they all love doing crafty things!
I've made bead bracelets with 1yo's! They have a great time handing beads to me and me helping them string them. It's a great way to teach them colors, among other things. You just have to watch them like a hawk at that age so they don't eat the beads! lol
