Due Process
Moms View Message Board: Parenting Children with Special Needs: Due Process
We're doing it. The prehearing was Friday. The hearing is May 24th and June 6th. I should have a decision by July 1st. We even have a case number - YIKES! Looking for outplacement, reimbursement for ESY services, an IEE and my son's psychologist's records (the hearing officer said that was a "no brainer" but he's going to be surprised! I'm doing this pro se (which for the layman means BY MYSELF!) The lawyers thought that would be best since I know the case the best, know the basics of the law, know my son's issues the best and am very articulate. With all this stress, I just came down with shingles about 10 days ago. Luckily, I'm feeling a bit better (finally!)
You go, Girl! How far is the outplacement you're looking at? Too bad that's really not an option for us. There's nothing close. I hope you get what you're hoping for. Is this the district you work for now or the previous one? What a pain. Why can't these school really do what's best for our kids??? It's so frustrating. I'm sorry you got sick. Do you take a multivitamin? Just a thought. Hugs and keep us updated.
Wow. Good luck to you. Keep us posted. There are a few folks on www.schwablearning.com that have been through due process. Check out the message board over there if you get a chance.
It's about 45 min away. I don't work in the district (never have). He used to come with me to a district I worked in (but no longer), but now he's in our home district because of the SPED. I don't take multivits- Right now I'm on antivirals and pain meds for the shingles. It's actually a little better.
