He was the 1st one in his class to memorize a poem and this isn't a short poem either = ) and his teacher has found if you sing to him that he learns easier = ) actually i've noticed that too i just hadn't put two and two together lol ...Like i will sing B-a-t-h time B-a-t-h time B-a-t-h time Bath Bath Bath and alex knows it's time to take a bath = ) of course he sings it with me and knows how to spell it because of this too = ) also i sing p-i-z-z-a too and i l-o-v-e y-o-u and if you ask him how to spell i love you he will tell me = ) I'm so proud of him = )
That's great, Brandy! I think it's really important to figure out how our kids learn so that we can make it as easy as possible for them. I've realized that my youngest learns best if she's sung to or if she can use her body somehow. My oldest learns best if she learns one on one with someone. She needs to be reassured that she's making the right decisions. My ds just likes to learn by memorizing. Give him a batch of flashcards and he can recite them back to you so quickly. You should be proud of Alex and yourself for figuring out how to teach him!
Thanks Cori i'm proud of both of us = )
Good for you for figuring that out, because sometimes people spend years teaching the wrong way, and can't figure out why the child isn't learning. My youngest is and auditory learner, as well. You can buy tapes/cd's with math facts on them, and they're great. I sing many spellings to her in the tune of BINGO, and she catches on quickly. You SHOULD be proud of both of you!
that's how i sing pizza in the tune of BINGO lol and also i thought of something else to teach the kids how to write they are letting them be an author of their own books = ) they aren't concentrating on the spelling of words yet but the are drawing and writing = )
