A neat opportunity
Moms View Message Board: Parenting Children with Special Needs: A neat opportunity
My son's rheumatologist called yesterday (he has JRA). She and her collegues have rented out a "special needs" camp for a weekend and have invited us to go. This weekend they are just having children with arthritis and their families, ages 4-10. It is completely free, we have to drive about 2 hours to get there. this is no big deal to us, we drive alot, but I got the impression for many that was a big downfall. There are camp counselors that help with everything, but they aren't to be alone with the kids, this is set up for families to do things together. There is horseback riding, archery, canoeing, and fishing. We are very excited! With a family of 5 to do this for a weekend would be at least 2-3 hundred dollars and we are going for free. The other HUGE plus for us is my youngest that has autistic tendancies will be around helpers that are used to this. The place is called camp for all. Anyway...just thought I would share!
Too cool, Kaye! What a neat thing for them to do. Have a great time!
It sounds like a lot of fun, Kaye. I am sure you will enjoy yourselves.
