I am so excited. My ds has learning diabilities and a reading disorder(dyslexia) and just finished 8th grade. I just got his state achievement test scores back, and for the first time EVER he scored "proficient" in READING!!!! Unfortunately his math, science, and social studies scores weren't quite proficient, but they were close. But reading!!! This is the kid I thought would never read!! Can you tell I'm excited??!!:)

He will be at the High School next year, and I'm feeling more confident that he will do well. It seems like such a long road! Four more years...lol.

AWESOME, Michele! I can just imagine how good that feels. :) Good luck to your ds in high school!

That's great!! Michele, I work with kids with dyslexia and they have a very special place in my heart...esp. the middle and high schoolers. I always tell them to hang in there and survive school, then when they grow up they get to have a secretary :). Seriously, kids in school are expected to excel in every subject and they are all reading based. In college and future career that get to focus on what they are truly interested in and what they love. He's gonna be alright.

That's great news!! I'm sure he felt like a million bucks after hearing that!! :)

I'm so happy for you and your son. I'm sure it feels like this has been a loooong time coming! You have given me hope for my son - he is 7 and will be repeating Grade 1 next year. I hope we will have such happy news by the time he is in Grade 8!!
