Bread Pudding

Bread Pudding

cubed white bread totaling at least 5 cups
1 cup pecans
3/4 cup raisins
3 eggs
2 1/2 cups milk
3/4 cups sugar
1 tablespoon cinnamon
3 tablespoon vanilla
1/8 cup butter


Mix eggs, milk, sugar, cinnamon, vanilla and melted butter together until well blended. Pour over cubed bread, and let set about 30 minutes
Pour into well buttered 2 quart baking dish and bake approx 30 minutes.

Whiskey Sauce

6 tablespoons butter
1 large egg
3/4 cup powdered sugar
2 tablespoons whiskey


Melt butter in double boiler. In separate bowl mix egg and sugar; add to butter mixture Do not boil, but stir about 7 minutes while cooking over low heat, Scrape bottom to prevent scorching....... Punch holes in cooked pudding with a fork. Pour over hot pudding. Chill for 1 hour in refrigerator.
