Peanut Butter Sushi Rolls! 1 to 2 slices of bread per child eating crust removed. (depending on your childs age/appetite) Variations: Jelly/Jam Peanut Butter Honey Butter Use a rolling pin or soup can to flatten each slice of bread. Lighty spread your favorite toppings on one slice. Roll up jelly roll fashion and then slice 1/2 - 1 inch slices turn up right and you have a "Sushi Roll"! My kids have so much fun with this! They prefer Peanut Butter, Butter and Honey. (butter keeps the PB from being so sticky in the mouth we do this all the time).
I just seen Regis and Cathy Lee Live and they had a recipe for sushi for kids. You make rice krispy treats and use fruit-roll ups for the outside. You can also add a piece of licorice in the middle of the rice krispys. It looks really cute and colorful!
I made the Rice Krispy Sushi last year for an "Under the Sea" party at dd's school. I made the Rice Krispy treats and spread it on a jelly roll sheet. I rolled gummy worms inside, cut into 1" rolls and then wrapped the outside in Fruit by the Foot. It was a big hit! Maybe we'll try making the pb sushi for lunch on day during the winter break. Thanks for posting.
Kiddie Sushi! Its my son's favorite food. I'm on a mission to find more ways to increase the amount he eats. These sound like fun.
Victory! Tried the Peanut Butter Sushi Rolls but we used banana sliced the long way for the center (the part you roll up first). Than we tried cream cheese and the banana as the center along with peanut butter, butter and honey. Amazing big hit as an afterschool snack plus it was fun. He ate the equivalent of 1.5 peanut butter sandwiches. For lunch we usually don't finish more than 1/2 a sandwich. The bread fills him up. That rolling pin squashing of the bread and bite size pieces as finger food works. I microwaved the slice of bread for 10 seconds before rolling. Made it roll out nicely and the slight warmth made everything spread easier. If you don't have a non-eater my joy is probably confusing - suffice it to say its big.
I wonder if it works with ham and cheese in it. Is your son a big P & B fan? Does sound like fun.
