Moms View Message Board: Cooking and Recipe Discussion: Crockpot Cooking: Crockpot ???

I want to do boneless pork chops and barbeque sauce in the crockpot tonight for dinner..Can I just put them in the pot with the sauce on them and how long would they take?
I very seldom use the crockpot and would like to try this.
Probably should have posted on the recipe page, thought this would be quicker...
TIA:)

Yes you can. I normally do it over night just because the meat turns out tenderer. Depending on how big the chops are between 6-8 hours.

They have really great cookbooks for slow cookers. I use mine a lot in the summer, because it doesn't heat the house up as much.

I love my 'Fix It and Forget It' crockpot cookbook. I've used it several times, with great results.

Kay, I got that book for Christmas and forgot all about it. Just took it out of the drawer...Thanks:)

I got my book for Christmas, too!

We live out of our crockpot in the summertime too. It seems like we are always gone during the day, and it's nice to come home to a good dinner that is already done! Plus, as someone else mentioned, it doesn't heat up the house. That is a HUGE plus when the temps are above 100.

I have that book and use it alot. I also find recipes at AllRecipes.com
I put chops or ribs in the pot, pour in a bottle of BBQ sauce then fill the bottle half way with water, shake to get the remainder of the sauce then add that to the pot. Cook about 6 to 8 hours.
The meat comes out very tender.

The pork chops came out great:) So tender you could cut them with a fork! I am going to use that crock pot more often.
I was always doing everything the old fashion way. I think I will get to like the crock pot, especially for the summer months.
Thanks everyone!

We live out of our crockpot too. It seems I have more time in the am's to get stuff together than I do in the afternoons!
