INGREDIENTS:
1 1/3 cups sliced onion
1 1/3 cups ketchup
1 1/3 cups water
2 3/4 tea. salt
2 1/2 Tab. Wortishire sauce (sry I can't spell)
1/3 cup white vinegar
1/3 cup dark brown sugar
2 3/4 tea. dry mustard
2 3/4 lbs. pork ribs

Preheat oven to 350
Combine everything in a large bowl-except for the meat.
Split the ribs and lightly oil a skillet and brown the ribs.
Place ribs in baking dish and pour 1/2 of the sauce over ribs.
Bake for 3 hours. Turn and baste every 20 min with sauce, using all the sauce by 2 hours. Continue baking, and baste with sauce from pan during last hour.
This is time consuming, but very worth it! I fix mine this way everytime!

I forgot to add that the sauce will seem very thin at first but it will thicken up before it is done.

Great, great, great! I'm serving ribs for dinner tomorrow & this will be perfect. I love slow baked ribs! The recipe is printing right now. Thanks for sharing Joan.

Please let me know if you liked it. I fixed bbq ribs yesterday, and I always use this recipe. I hope they were a hit!

Joan I made it up last night and the ribs have been marinating in half of it ever since. It'll go in the oven in about an hour so it's ready by 6.

Btw, the recipe makes a LOT of sauce! Just what I like, but I had to get a bigger bowl twice :)

Loving2, how do you do your ribs? I am a pretty good cook, but for some reason, I mess ribs up terribly! LOL Do you boil yours first or just bake them? How long? TIA

By Jann on Wednesday, January 16, 2002 - 04:39 pm:

Never mind, I am a moron!!! LOL I skimmed and thought the recipe was just for the sauce! sheesh..pathetic!
Thanks Joan for the recipe!

LOL it really does make a lot of sauce, but it thickens nicely. I've never marinated mine overnight. Let me know how it turned out. I hope you like it. If you did'nt that is fine too, it's not my own recipe, I found it on a web site so you wont hurt my feelings! :) LOL

Joan we all loved the sauce! It was very yummy!!! Thanks for a new favorite recipe :)

And Jann, I cook my ribs just like the recipe except I cover the pan with tinfoil. Nice and tender!

OK, I cooked these friday night and I have a question. Because I RARELY cook ribs.
These turned out YUMMY tho!!

What type of ribs do you buy? I went to the butcher shop and they gave me the country style ribs that you seperate. Did I get the right ones?? I got home and only had 6. lol I just told them the pounds i needed according to the recipes--but this wasnt enough for my family. duhhh i am new at this can you tell??

I go in their all the time and ask them the dumbest questions. I always take my recipe too and show the lady. LOL I know they probably giggle after i leave or shake their heads in disbelief. hahahaha Hey~ I have to learn sometime. I Think the favorite thing I have gotten and grilled from there was a beef tenderloin. My dh was a little shocked when he saw the bill for that and suggested we only get that on 'special occassions' haha It is so awesome tho!

I usually just buy a big package, I don't really pay much attention to the pounds. I seperate mine and always have enough to fill my baking pan. Usually about 12-15 individual ribs.
