How do I?

Moms View Message Board: The Fox Hole (War-Related Discussion): Sending In Reinforcements (Showing Support & Comfort, Lifting Spirits): How do I?

Send a care package to service men or women if I don't have a name? I want to set up a donation box at school.

By Amy~moderator on Wednesday, April 7, 2004 - 11:21 am:

I don't think you can, without a name and address. They are no longer accepting "To Any Soldier" packages/mail.

thanks Amy. I guess that makes sense safety wise.

Amy is right they are no long accepting those packages, however, If you ask around you may be able to find someone that has a loved one over there that can assist in sending the package. That is a wonderful thing that you are trying to do. I hope you find someone to help you, I know they would surely appreciate it.

maybe if I went to the national guard office? I know nothing about the military.

I would think that probably any recruiters office might be able to help you. Could you maybe have the school send out letters to the students parents asking if they have a loved one stationed over there and if so would it be o.k. if the school adopted him/her and their unit. I would guess that there would be atleast one child in the school that would know someone there.

Colette, If you are still interested there was an article in the paper today. You can go to www.operationshoebox.com for more information about sending care packages to Iraq. The items can be sent to them and they will get them to the military members. It looked like a pretty cool site. Let me know if this works out for you.

thanks, I will check it out and let you know.

Another idea could be to call some of the local churches. They usually have a list of soldiers that could use care packages. Especially to help some of the men that are having money difficulties while being away from home!! My dh is in the military and its so nice to see those doing what they can to help, thanks! You don't have to be in the military to fight for our country, just the support of those who do goes a LONG way!
