My best friends DH is there
My best friends DH just left about a month and a half ago. She is going through a really rough time. She has two kids. A 4 year old DD and an 8 month old DS. When he returns, his DD will be starting kindergarten and his DS will be 2.
It really truly is hard to have loved ones over there. My husband got back from there last October and will be returning there this August. I have a friend whose husband is there right now, she is pregnant with her 5th child and has a blood clotting disorder. She is due 2 weeks before her dh gets back. I don't know what branch her husband is in but there should be volunteers in his unit that are assigned to her to help her while he is away. You should refer her to Momsview for support. There are a lot of military wives here who have btdt that would be more than happy to lend an ear and offer support.
I've BTDT, too! My dh was in Iraq and came back in September. I had a 4yr old, a 1yr old, and was pregnant. NOT fun, LOL. Please let her know about MV, there are several military wives that could really offer some good advice and support.
Well, it's been a whole year and one month now, and he still isn't home. My fiend is going crazy. I don't know what to do to help her. I am there when she cries and when she needs to vent, but I wish I could take her pain away, snap my fingers, and bring him home for her now. He said that he should be home in September, but he is not 100% sure yet. I can't imagine what she is going through. I just wish there was something I could do to ease her pain.
I can understand where she is coming from. My husband started his deployment in December and will leave for Iraq in May, for 12 months. We have a 4 yr old and a 9 month old. I don't live on a base because my husband is in the National Guard, but we do have a "family readiness group" meeting once a month. It helps out so much. I get info from the women that have btdt, I get to be around people that understand my tears, or my anger or whatever it is that I am feeling at the moment. So I hope that she has some kind of support to go to like that. Tell her to take advantage of it because that is what it is there for.
I don't think that she has anything like that. She has never mentioned it, and I know that she hasn't attended one.
Oh I am so sorry to hear that he is not back yet. What branch is he in? What base is she closest too? Maybe I can find out what military support there is for her.
His unit is out of Miami. He is in the National Guard. We are closest to MacDill Air Force Base.
I put in a call to MacDill Air Base and hopefully some one will call me back soon. It is Friday and after 5 there so I probably won't hear anything until next week but I will let you know as soon as I find something out.
Thanks, you're such a sweetie
I just talked to her earlier tonight, and I asked her and she said that she does have a support group, but it is in West Palm. We live in Tampa, and it's a bit of a drive, about 4 hours. They call her to tell her about the meetings, but she can never make them.
Kristie, hope your reunion today is wonderful!!! I'm truly so HAPPY for you!!!!!
Thank You! Less than 7 hrs to go!!!!!!
