DH's unit, Bravo 1/44 ADA suffered it's first casualty on October 1st. We had a new CSM, only in the unit 5 days, killed by a RPG attack while traveling between Taji and Tikrit. He was 40 years old, and is survived by his wife and 3 children. The early morning wake up call from my FRG leader scared me half to death, thinking John had been hurt, only to find out she needed me to call the people under me on our chain of concern to tell them of the death. I got an email from John saying things are getting worse there. He said every time he leaves on a convoy he is VERY lucky, the convoy before or after him is always attacked. Please keep all the soldiers, and the family of CSM Blankenbecler in your thoughts.
