Liberia?

Liberia?
What are your thoughts? Should we be sending troops or not? I know it's a horrible situation over there, but how would sending my son, or my husband to die over there benefit this country?
As much as I hate to say it, I feel the innocent in Liberia could benefit from our help. My husband has been in Iraq now for close to 4 months, so I know first hand how it is to have a loved one in harm's way. However, the situation in Liberia appears out of control, and I feel they would benefit from any help they can get. Although, there does come a point where our military can get so stretched out, that more harm could come than good. Good topic Colette! I'd be interested to hear what others have to say on this.
I feel we are too stretched militarily to deal with this right now. I'll post more thoughts on it later (when I'm actually awake!), but I don't think we should go!
From what I've heard, 41 marines are already there defending the embassy....
As of today there are 150 troops there ready to kick you know what.
My opinion - either send enough troops to do some serious good and provide real protection for the Embassy and U.S. citizens there, or don't send any and get all U.S. personnel out. This half-a**d bandaid approach, imo, sucks, and I believe will shortly lead to some spectacular deaths of U.S. citizens or troops or both.
As tragic as it is, I just don't understand why the US has to mop up everyone else's mess! I agree that we can only stretch so far. Many governments in Africa are so unstable. It's been that way for decades. Sad to say, we can't save everyone.
