Those Left Behind
THOSE LEFT BEHIND The tidings have arrived. Dreaded, expected, they fall on my heart. You're going again so far, and we must wait. Your son won't know you when you return. His memory is short. He'll learn to walk and you won't be there to hold his hand and guide his explorations. This bed will be arid when you're not here. I'll have to learn to dream alone. I'll hang a calendar on my wall, and mark the days until you're back with us. One desperate slash for each lonely day we spend without you. B. V. Dahlen ©
OMG, Bea, that so describes how I am feeling!!! Especially about the kids remembering John, and walking without him here to see. Thanks so much for posting that!!!!
As usual, a very nice appropriate piece of work Bea. Your talent is amazing.
I wrote that when Karl got his orders to go to Viet Nam.
Bea, Would you mind if I forwarded that to our FRG? I'll use your initials and copyrights with it. I think they would appreciate that, since many are pregnant, or have very small children. You write so beautifully!!!!
I'd be honored Crystal.
