Moms View Message Board: New to Moms View? Introduce Yourself!: New today from California
Hi everybody, I just joined a few days ago. I am not usually into joining groups online, as I really don't have very much time to post (since having my last baby.) Anyway, I am a 39 year old, wife of 13 years this February, and a mother to 4 kids. One in college, one in diapers, and an 11 and 12 year old.....I know what you are thinking right now...is this woman nuts? LOL. I sure am enjoying the little one though, but we sure have our days where I am just wiped out, exhausted! We like to travel alot as a family, and have dragged the kids along everywhere we go. They are all good travelers, except baby Lili who still needs to adjust to that. We also love spending time with our dogs (a golden retriever and a shihtzu.) We enjoy going to the snow to ski, and the beach to snorkle. Kauai is our favorite island to do that. My husband is in the pharmacuetical industry, and I have been the stay at home parent for nearly 13 years now! In some ways I miss working because it is easier to stay connected and meet people. It has been a bit isolating being home. I wouldn't trade a thing though because I enjoy being there for every little first moment. To me, it is more enjoyable, important and gratifying than the work I did before. I have had a struggle with my weight since having kids. (Skinny before I had them.) And I am looking to make this year a year of being centered, and getting it all together, including with my weight. I have already lost some, I am ten pounds below my first prenatal weigh in with my last baby. (She just turned one.)So that is progress. I am looking to connect with other moms who struggle in this area, and want to wrok on that in 09. Thats it for now, thank you for reading!
Hi Lilianasmama, Check out my post to you on the other thread but WELCOME AGAIN. I work a food plan as a way of life. Be glad to support you. We traveled a lot with older kids and a new baby. I called him my car baby - have car seat will travel. Glad your here!!!!!! Check out the Lose weight/Fitness topic and the low carb recipes under cooking - I've liked these and there is a lot of help even in the older posts. Let us know how you want support (e.g. daily posts, recipes, just cheering etc.) Linda
Hello and welcome!
Hi there ! WOW, we have a LOT in common, I will be celebrating 12years being married in April, have 4 children (3-15yrs old) and I just turned 38. My husband is also in the medical field (provider rep for Medicare PPO company.) Technically I'm a work at home mom, have been doing so since 2000 ..... also in the medical field, and it is VERY isolating at home, but it's where I want to be also. Unfortunately we at home don't get those perks of working in an office, getting those performance reviews, pats on the back for a job well done, etc .... and although I've been fired from being a mom (an irate 4yr old I believe) and often have to work long hours (cleaning, caring and loving) I don't often get told "job well done !" SO that's what we're here for ... everyone needs someone to tell them they "are doing a good job". I think you'll find a lot of support on this board, I have. :}
Hi Harlena, Thanks for the message. We sure do have a lot in common. I love your name it is so pretty! Anyway, hope to see you around on the boards... Have a great day!
thanks .... my name is a family name, grandfather's name was Harlena and they 'feminized' it ..... I've never run into another one of me before, haha ! I like your daughter's name too ..... my greatgrandmother's name was Lillian. I know her's is a bit different, but same base-name. I hope you enjoy this board !
oops ... I mean my grandfather's name was HARLEN, I'm just so used to typing my name that my fingers automatically do that .... I didn't catch this til I had already posted.
Harlen is a cool name! Very masculine. But when you change it to Harlena, it is extemely feminine and pretty! My daughter is Liliana sofia, Her grandmother is Lillian and my eldest daughter is Adriana, so it is sort of a combo of both names. I also have a Delany who we call "Lanie" and a son Brody. I thought with this last pregnancy I was having a boy, so I named him "Lucca James." It was after a town we visited in Tuscany anf fell in love with, and James after my dad. But surprise she turned out to be a Liliana sofia!
Lilianasmama, I love this story of your kids names. When were you in Tuscany. Spent quite a period in Umbria and loved it. Linda
sorry so late to this .... just wanted to chime in again .... it seems that we actually have more in common that I originally thought ......... DelanEy (tad bit differnce in the spelling) is my mother-in-law's maiden name and a cousin named their daughter (she's now 12) this .... my great-grandmother's name was Lillian (I have ALWAYS loved that name !) One of the "sisters" (m-i-l has 3 sisters, they're just generically known as "the sisters", although one just passed away) married an Italian, and they have a grandson named Lucca My Dh, grandfather (on both sides), nephew, plus a couple of husband's of Dh's sisters (there are 5 of those !) married James-es. WOW .... that's a LOT of commonality there girlie !!!
WoW you do have a lot in common. That's amazing!!!!
