ROFL

By Palmbchprincess on Tuesday, November 9, 2004 - 05:45 pm:

ROFL!!! I'm a Jersey Girl... so Jon Bon Jovi was a GOD growing up!! And there are only about 5 of these I don't remember... but tight rolled jeans, clipping your shirt to the side, scrunched scoks... all What were we thinking fashion moments!!!

By Mara on Tuesday, November 9, 2004 - 05:59 pm:

I forgot about wearing more than one pair of colored socks! I remember in the 7th grade going to school in yellow sandles that had the straps that you laced around your ankle, with matching yellow stirrup pants, a yellow tiger pattern shirt and a banana clip in my hair and those black jelly braclets-a ton of them on one wrists! Every one kept saying how they liked my outfit..I look back now and laugh at myself!

These were great! :)

ROFL!! A couple of those are a little behind me, but most describe my youth perfectly! LOL. I completely forgot about the Oregon Trail on the computer, but boy, I did love that! 54 and 55 had me laughing. Yup, I did start singing it! :)

By Karen~moderator on Tuesday, November 9, 2004 - 06:31 pm:

Well, all of those describe my kids' youths, and some of them even apply to me.

And BTW - I listened to that Bon Jovi CD on the way home from work today!

By Jelygu on Tuesday, November 9, 2004 - 06:37 pm:

Those were hilarious... and so true!

By Dawnk777 on Tuesday, November 9, 2004 - 07:04 pm:

Nope. I was all grown up by 1980. It only barely describes my kids. Sarah was born in 1989 and Emily in 1992. They were too little for a lot of this stuff.

By Kaye on Tuesday, November 9, 2004 - 08:04 pm:

The saddest part is...all that stuff is slowly coming back! If it isn't the toys it is the clothes! A lot of girls here are starting to tie their shirts to the side..LOL

Also MASH brings back some very faint memories, but I can't quite put them together..some one want to explain it better?

And Bon Jovi, I really thought we might marry one day, then he married someone named MiMI, I think!

By Kellyj on Tuesday, November 9, 2004 - 08:04 pm:

What a blast from the past! We used to play MASH like it was our jobs!

By Bellajoe on Tuesday, November 9, 2004 - 08:07 pm:

OMG! I am guilty of all except having a mullet...thank god!

The one about wearing flourescent clothes had me cracking up! We actually kicked a girl out of our little group in 6th grade because she wore those clothes! Of course she was our friend again by like 8th period probably and is still a good friend today...so don't think i'm a terrible person or anything!

By Melanie on Tuesday, November 9, 2004 - 09:28 pm:

Kaye-the MASH game. Draw a box. At the top write M-A-S-H (Mansion, Apartment, Shack, House). Along the side, write four boys names (potential husbands). The bottom, four numbers (number of kids) and the other side, locations (where you will live). Start in the middle of the box and draw around in circles. When you stop, count all the lines. Starting at the M, count around that number of times, scratching off whatever you land on. At the end you will know what type of house you will live in, who you will marry, how many kids you will have and where you will live. LOL. (Can you tell how many times I played that game??) :)

By Kaye on Tuesday, November 9, 2004 - 10:27 pm:

oh yeah...i think i blacked that out of my memory!

By Mommmie on Tuesday, November 9, 2004 - 10:44 pm:

Nope, not me either. I never heard of most of those, but I graduated high school in 1981 and college in 1986 (which means I was drunk most of 1981-1986). And my son wasn't born until 1994.

Wow, how weird being so totally out of the loop!!

By Dawnk777 on Tuesday, November 9, 2004 - 11:31 pm:

Never played the MASH game! LOL!

Mommmmie, you are my youngest sister's age. I graduated from high school in 1978!

By My2cuties on Wednesday, November 10, 2004 - 12:16 am:

ROFL...I almost woke up my dd! Too funny, every part of it! Talk about bringing back some memories.

By Amy~moderator on Wednesday, November 10, 2004 - 02:32 am:

Thank you! What a trip down memory lane. Now, those were the days, weren't they??!?!

Just a few thoughts -
Oriental Trading Company still sells slap bracelets!
That "I've fallen and I can't get up" commercial still plays.
I have a picture of me in the 5th grade with a ponytail on the side of my head.
I loved the hypercolor shirts - I still think they are way cool, LOL
And, I still get the urge to play MASH - why won't anyone ever play with me?? They just laugh at me and think I've gone nuts. *sniffle*

By Ladypeacek on Wednesday, November 10, 2004 - 03:29 am:

OMG i sooooo did sing shot through the heart and was soooo still singing it at the end....there wasnt one single one of those that i dont remember....how sad is that! That was to funny! Oh and i still have my hypercolor shirts and even a sweatshirt that belonged to an ex boyfirend from 10th grade...now i am blushing..

By Bellajoe on Wednesday, November 10, 2004 - 07:17 am:

Now I vaguely remember the MASH game...

By Kernkate on Wednesday, November 10, 2004 - 07:35 am:

When I got this it didn't apply to me, but some to my DS I had to laugh especially at 3. You can sing the rap to the "Fresh Prince of Belair" ..and can do the "Carlton". My DS always sang the song when it came on!!! I emailed this to him.

By Karen~moderator on Wednesday, November 10, 2004 - 08:09 am:

My DH gets teased by the kids' friends because his hair is very reminiscent of a mullet! LOL

Amy, I thought those shirts were cool too! And I thought scrunched down socks over leggings were cool. I had a pair of L.A. Gear high tops with 2 pairs of laces - one of them was bright turquoise. UGH!

....and I still say *NOT* - but I'm not the only one! I've *seen* many of you say it too! LOL

By Dawnk777 on Wednesday, November 10, 2004 - 11:19 am:

Karen, I still use "NOT" myself! Just can't get out of the habit!

By Cat on Wednesday, November 10, 2004 - 11:53 am:

Okay, who was hiding in my closet during high school??? Although, I never did see Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in the theater. Not into that sort of cartoon then. :) I graduated in 1989.

Just a couple months ago Robin had to have blood drawn and the tech got about an inch from his arm with the needle and he yelled, "Ouch!!! --- Psych!" All the techs in the room laughed SO hard. One of them said, "I haven't heard that forever!"

And yes, Karen, I'm guilty of using "Not!" sometimes. :)

By Ladypeacek on Wednesday, November 10, 2004 - 01:34 pm:

CATTTTTTTTTTT...teenage mutant ninja turtles was NOT a cartoon in the theatre...ROFLOL it was a movie with real people....and how horrible is it that i own both of those movies and still watch them? in fact i will tell you that i had the sheet set all through high school! ROFLOL!!!!

By Karen~moderator on Thursday, November 11, 2004 - 05:52 pm:

By Pixie on Thursday, December 23, 2004 - 05:01 pm:

I'm new here but I think I there was only ONE of those I didn't know! Anyhow do you know they now sell a MASH book at Toys R Us, yes a book its a three fold with all the categories and a dry erase marker!

By Amy~moderator on Thursday, December 23, 2004 - 05:18 pm:

ROFL - I just played mash with a friend of mine the other day, just for kicks! Yes, I'm a big nerd, lol
